sheabutterDid you know that, in the 1990s, consumers worldwide spent over £10 billion each year on toiletries and cosmetics?
Look around your home and make a note of the make-up, creams, perfumes and hair products that you and your family use every day. You probably take all of these products for granted - but how much do you know about what goes into them and how they are made?
The labels on packaging might give a list of ingredients by their chemical names, but this certainly doesn't tell us the whole story. Where do the ingredients come from? Who harvested them and how? How were they produced? Do you think people got a fair price for their work?
By finding out more about how the products we use are made we can choose those we buy more carefully and so:
- help other communities to live better lives
- improve and protect the environment, and sustain it for the future.
