All animal life depends on plants we will only survive as a species if we take care of the plant life on Earth. Plants supply us with the oxygen that we need to breathe. Much of our food, shelter and medicine come from the plant world.
Today, more people than ever before are conscious of the need for conservation. The most popular campaigns focus on protecting endangered animals, using images of pandas, seal pups and whales to capture the publics imagination. Although these animal campaigns are vitally important, the equally important conservation of plant life has been somewhat overlooked.
However, a spectacular new initiative in Cornwall, England is changing all of this. Back in 1994, Tim Smit was driving around a china clay quarry near the town of St Austell when he came up with the idea of building the worlds largest greenhouse. From this seed has grown a stunning environmental centre that is attracting millions of visitors from around the world the Eden Project.
